Raid Data Recovery – The Ultimate Guide

Melissa Smith
28/04/2022

RAID is a technology that has been around for a long time but is only now starting to catch on with individuals who want to begin backing up their drives. RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives, which are ways of combining multiple hard drives into a single logical drive with faster speeds and greater storage capacity.

Some RAID types are meant for specific uses and some are more general. This article will cover the differences between RAID levels, RAID types, how to create a RAID, how to back up your RAID, and how to recover your RAIDed drives if something goes wrong.

RAID Levels

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives. Simply put, it is a type of technology that combines multiple hard drives into a single logical drive with faster speeds and greater storage capacity. There are different RAID levels. The more data you store on your RAID, the faster your system will perform.

RAID Types

RAID comes in different levels, which is often confusing for people who are new to the technology. RAID 1 is usually the most popular of these levels and is a mirrored set of hard drives where the data on one drive is exactly replicated to another drive. This type of RAID is meant for speed and redundancy, but not capacity.

How to create a RAID

In order to create a RAID, you need at least two physical drives of the same or similar size. You will also need an operating system with software that can handle RAID.

The first thing you need to do is make sure your operating system has software that can handle RAID. If it does, then your next step is to make sure your drives are the same size and if not, reformat one of them so they are the same size. After that, you should align the disks and then create a RAID from the disks. To align disks, you first use the fdisk command to find out where each partition starts on each disk. Then you must type “align” for every single partition on every single disk.

It is important to note that aligning partitions can take some time and may require additional space on the drive as changes made to one partition will affect all of them.

How to back up RAID

There are a variety of ways to backup your RAID.

Clone the entire drive to an external hard drive: This is usually done with free software like EaseUS Todo Backup. The only downside is that if you have more than one RAID, it will copy the data from all of the

Create a bootable disk: You can then use this disk to boot into your computer and back up the files on your RAID – Use an online service: Some companies offer a way to upload your files onto their server and download them later.

If you want offline access or want to store them somewhere other than your home, this may be a good option for you

How to recover RAIDed drives

Fortunately, there are many different ways to recover RAIDed drives. One way is to send them to a data recovery specialist. This is always the best option for raid data recovery because professionals have access to the latest and most advanced data recovery technologies.

Another way you can recover your RAIDed drives if something goes wrong is with a software solution. There are many different software solutions tailored to specific types of RAIDs that will help you recover your data from the hard drive even after things go wrong.

Final Words

The final words on this subject are that RAID is a great way to back up your data and you should use it. Backing up your data is a must, so if you don’t have any hardware specifically designed for backups, RAID is the best and most cost-effective solution.
